18-HAZARI : Despite growing concerns over smog and air pollution, the tehsil administration has failed to effectively control brick kilns allegedly contributing to environmental pollution in 18-Hazari.
Brick kilns operating without zigzag technology in Rodu Sultan and other areas are reportedly adding to smoke and air pollution.
According to available online air-quality data, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in 18-Hazari was recorded at around 126, indicating an unhealthy level of air pollution for sensitive groups.
The deteriorating air quality has raised concerns among residents, particularly during the smog season.
Residents said that despite actions taken by the Assistant Commissioner and the Environment Department, the situation had not improved significantly. They alleged that brick kilns operating without proper pollution-control technology were continuing to emit smoke, contributing to poor air quality in surrounding areas.
Citizens have demanded strict and sustained action against brick kilns violating environmental regulations. They also urged the authorities to ensure the installation and proper functioning of zigzag technology and regularly monitor emissions to control smog and protect public health.
