Punjab Police and ‘PERA Force’ have made life miserable for traders; severe protests warned if harassment does not end, says Chairman Qaumi Tajir Ittehad Pakistan.

LAHORE: The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Qaumi Tajir Ittehad Pakistan Khawaja Azhar Gulshan has roundly rejected the current government budget, terming it entirely “anti-people.”
Speaking on the economic hardships faced by the public, he questioned the rationale behind government benchmarks, asking under what logic a citizen earning a mere Rs. 8,500 per month is not considered poor. He emphasized that there is absolutely no visible relief for the common man in this year’s budget.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club alongside other central leadership officials of the organization, Khawaja Azhar Gulshan expressed grave concerns over the conduct of provincial law enforcement.
He stated that the Punjab Police and the newly formed ‘PERA Force’ have made life miserable for the business community, actively damaging the self-respect of local traders. He held the current provincial government directly responsible for this mistreatment.
The Chairman warned of countrywide agitation if the situation is not rectified. He said that In the past, we took to the streets to defend the rights of traders, and we will do so again. If the current government does not immediately halt this unwarranted coercion and police brutality against the business community, we will be forced to launch severe protests across the country, and the government will be solely responsible for the consequences.”
Furthermore, Khawaja Azhar Gulshan extended an appeal to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir . He noted that just as the Field Marshal successfully ensured national security and restored Pakistan’s credibility on the global stage, he should now cast an eye on the country’s internal situation.
He urged the Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to intervene and rescue the traders whom he described as the backbone of Pakistan’s economy from ongoing administrative harassment and police high handedness to help stabilize the national economy.
