CHANGZHOU: Chinese electric bike maker Horwin has sold 10,000 units in Pakistan in one year. The company now plans to explore setting up parts of its supply chain, technology and manufacturing in Pakistan, which could lead to full local production.

During a media delegation’s visit to the company in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, Horwin CEO and Founder Wendsor Zhou spoke about the potential for electric transport and growing business ties between Pakistan and China.

He told APP that the sales milestone shows there is growing interest in Chinese electric two-wheelers in Pakistan. Electric transport is gaining attention as the country looks for other travel options.

Zhou said Horwin is looking at more overseas markets for electric vehicles and related technology. He added that Pakistan could offer opportunities to work together on electric transport, sales and after-sales services.

“Horwin’s sales in Pakistan also show how important it is to understand the local market, build business partnerships and focus on customers,” he said.

Zhou added that electric two-wheelers could give Pakistani consumers another way to travel. However, wider use will depend on price, charging stations, battery performance, repair services and the availability of spare parts.

“Working more closely with Chinese manufacturers could help Pakistani businesses build sales networks and make electric vehicles easier to access. Horwin’s experience in Pakistan may also help it explore more opportunities in the country’s changing two-wheeler market,” he said.

He added that more information about Horwin’s new products, operations in Pakistan and future plans would help show what the company intends to do next.
