BRUSSELS: The European Parliament will host a high-level event on November 3 to promote women’s leadership

BRUSSELS: The European Parliament will host a high-level event on November 3 to promote women’s leadership, economic empowerment and greater participation in decision-making as part of European Gender Equality Week 2026.

The event, titled “Women in Leadership – Shaping the Change and Inspiring the Next Generation of Leaders,” will bring together policymakers, civil society representatives and members of the private sector to discuss ways to advance women’s leadership across different sectors.

According to the European Parliament, the event will be organised by Vice-President Antonella Sberna, who is responsible for Gender Equality Week, in cooperation with Lina Gálvez, Chair of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM). European Parliament President Roberta Metsola is also scheduled to participate.

The Parliament has highlighted that women remain underrepresented in leadership positions across many sectors despite progress in expanding women’s participation in public and professional life.

The event aims to encourage dialogue between different generations and sectors, focusing on women’s economic empowerment and their role in shaping policies and decisions.

The discussions will also take place against the wider backdrop of efforts to strengthen gender equality, democratic participation and inclusive leadership across Europe.

The event is scheduled for November 3, 2026, at 16:00 in Brussels. Interested audiences can follow the proceedings through the European Parliament’s official online webcast.
