LAHORE: In a major push for public welfare and social uplift, the Punjab government has established a definitive target of organizing 5,000 mass marriages across all districts of the province during the current fiscal year under the flagship “Dhee Rani Program.”

The comprehensive initiative was the focal point of a high-level review meeting held in Lahore, which was chaired by the Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Punjab, Sohail Shaukat Butt. The session brought together key departmental figures, including Director General Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Punjab Dr. Shehanshah Faisal Azeem, alongside other senior administrative officers.

During the meeting, Provincial Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt issued strict directives to the administration to ensure the timely finalization of all logistical and operational arrangements for the upcoming mass marriage ceremonies.

The leadership thoroughly evaluated potential event venues, selection criteria, and overall administrative logistics, while also reviewing a detailed briefing on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) compiled by the Directorate General.

Highlighting the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Provincial Minister underscored that special attention must be given to facilitating deserving households and minority communities with premier public amenities. He stressed that both the wedding ceremonies and guest hospitality, particularly the arrangement of meals, must reflect high standards of quality, elegance, and societal dignity.

Reiterating a policy of zero tolerance for administrative flaws, the Minister warned that any laxity, negligence, or procedural irregularity within this vital welfare framework will invite strict action. He mandated that all stages of the program must adhere stringently to the established SOPs and maintain absolute transparency.

Concluding the session, the Provincial Minister urged all relevant officers to leverage effective coordination strategies and operational diligence. He maintained that ensuring hassle-free execution and successfully achieving the targeted milestone of 5,000 collective marriages is a primary responsibility that must be fulfilled with utmost dedication.
