QUETTA: In Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, a blast near the train passing through Chaman Gate has killed at least 20 people and injured 70.
A senior police officer and official from the civil administration told to foreign media channel that the death toll is expected to rise.

According to Federal Railway Minister Hanif Abassi, the shuttle train coming from Quetta Cantt was targeted by an explosion near Chaman Gate on Sunday morning. The blast caused the locomotive and three coaches to derail, while two coaches overturned.
He described the incident as a cowardly act of terrorism and said such attacks cannot weaken the national resolve.
He added, “The wicked designs of terrorist networks operating from India and Afghanistan will never be allowed to succeed.”
Quetta railway officials told BBC that passengers on the shuttle train were being transported from Cantt station to City Railway Station and were scheduled to board the Jaffar Express.

According to officials, these passengers were beginning their journey to Peshawar, most of whom were government employees returning to their hometowns for Eid holidays.
The outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement issued by the organization’s spokesperson, it was claimed that “the train carrying military personnel from Quetta Cantt was targeted.”
