Major Development Works Underway in Sialkot, Says Khawaja Asif

Khawaja Asif shared updates on the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, a project originally approved by Shehbaz Sharif in 2017.

  • Increased Budget: Initially estimated at 4 to 5 billion PKR, the project’s cost has now escalated to 9 billion PKR due to delays and inflation.
  • Green Spaces: A massive public park is currently under construction, spanning 54 acres of land.
  • Connectivity: The Minister reaffirmed that the 18-billion PKR Ring Road project will be completed to streamline traffic and boost local trade.

“The pace of development in Punjab is significantly higher compared to other provinces,” the Minister noted, adding that the journey of service would continue uninterrupted.

Flood Damage in Sialkot Last Year Largely Due to Illegal Constructions on Nullahs: Kh. Asif

Reflecting on the heavy losses caused by urban flooding last year, the Federal Minister pointed toward illegal constructions and waste as the primary culprits.

  • Waste Management: Authorities have successfully removed 7,000 tons of trash from the city’s three main storm-water drains (nullahs).
  • Final Warning: Khawaja Asif issued a stern warning to those responsible for illegal encroachments on these drains. “Remove the encroachments yourselves, or the government will take decisive action,” he cautioned.

Looking ahead, the Minister promised that the upcoming budget would include fresh welfare and development schemes specifically tailored for Sialkot.
