LAHORE: A new political entity, the “First Democratic Front” (FDF), has officially stepped into the political arena.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Lahore Press Club by FDF Chairman Colonel (R) Raja Javed Mujtaba, alongside Central Information Secretary Nazneen Anwar Advocate, who briefed journalists on the occasion.
During the press conference, it was officially announced that Rai Rameez Talat has been nominated as the Lahore President of the FDF.
Outlining the party’s vision, Chairman Raja Javed Mujtaba stated that the FDF’s manifesto is built upon three fundamental principles:
- Complete enforcement of the rule of law.
- Free, fair, and transparent elections.
- Comprehensive electoral reforms aimed at significantly reducing election expenses.
He emphasized that lowering election costs will enable capable and honest individuals from the middle and common classes to actively participate in the electoral process.
Expressing concern over the current state of affairs, Raja Javed Mujtaba noted that, unfortunately, the ordinary Pakistani is facing severe hardships just to secure basic rights and necessities.
- Economic Crisis: Soaring inflation, rising unemployment, economic downturn, and the unfair distribution of resources have adversely affected millions of families.
- State Responsibilities: He asserted that it is the primary obligation of the state to provide every citizen with honorable employment, quality education, free healthcare, adequate housing, and complete protection of life and property.
- Relief on Taxes and Utilities: Criticizing the heavy burden placed on citizens, he stated that unnecessary and unjust taxes, high petroleum prices, and skyrocketing electricity and gas tariffs have crippled the purchasing power of the general public.
- FDF Demands: The FDF strongly demands an immediate reduction in the unnecessary tax burden on citizens, insisting that taxes collected from the public must be spent directly on public welfare. Effective measures must be taken to control inflation, coupled with economic policies that deliver genuine relief to common citizens.
Focus on Women, Youth, and National Security
- Empowering Women: The FDF leadership stated that it is the state’s responsibility to provide women with equal opportunities across all sectors, complete protection, dignity, and an empowered environment.
- Youth Opportunities: Millions of youth in Pakistan are eagerly awaiting quality education and respectable employment opportunities.
- Terrorism and Security: Addressing regional security challenges, the FDF demanded a balanced strategy to tackle the menace of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
- The party advocated for meaningful dialogue, developmental initiatives, and public inclusion, while stressing that state power must be effectively utilized against elements attempting to sabotage peace and order.
