Halqa Arbab Holds Under the Presidency of Shehzad Nayyar

Lahore:Kanwal Behzad,Wasif Akhtar and Dr. Abid Sial are presenting his kalam in Halqa Session at Pak Tea House.

LAHORE: The 14th session of the current term of Halqa Arbab-e-Zauq was held at the Pak Tea House under the chairmanship of Shehzad Nayyar. Joint Secretary Shehzad Faramosh presented the proceedings of the previous special session.

During the literary session, Kanwal Behzad presented her short story “Dewar-e-Sangeen Mein Ik Daricha”, Wasif Akhtar presented his poem “Sada-e-Hasti”, and Dr. Abid Sial presented his ghazal for critical evaluation.

Following insights and feedback from the attendees, the President of the session, Shehzad Nayyar, shared his critique:

  • Kanwal Behzad’s Short Story: He declared the short story successful, noting that the narrative is fundamentally built upon an illusion and is written in precise, well-measured sentences using the first-person perspective.
  • Wasif Akhtar’s Poem: Regarding the poem, he remarked that multiple streams of thought flow through it, and in his view, the piece requires further refinement and hard work.
  • Dr. Abid Sial’s Ghazal: Praising the ghazal as successful, he noted that Abid Sial is a senior poet whose style possesses distinct individuality. He added that when a ghazal does not remind the listener of any other poet, it reflects true uniqueness—a quality Sial consciously strives for. He described the poetry as masterful and rich with diverse themes.

Later in the session, deep sorrow was expressed over the demise of renowned poetess Bismillah Sabri, and prayers for her forgiveness (dua-e-maghfirat) were offered. Session president Shehzad Nayyar also recited his own poetry, which was warmly appreciated by the audience.

In the end, Halqa Secretary Aftab Javed thanked President Shehzad Nayyar, honorable guests, and the audience. Around 100 people participated in the meeting, with 85 individuals registering their attendance.
