In a statement, DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis emphasized the importance of working directly with artists to build useful tools. “By collaborating with filmmakers and industry leaders like A24 from the beginning, we can develop AI features that support authentic storytelling and help creators realize their artistic vision,” he said.

A24, known for producing hit films like Everything Everywhere All at Once, Marty Supreme, and the horror film Backrooms, will be working closely with DeepMind on various research projects. The partnership aims to give A24 access to DeepMind’s research, infrastructure, and global network.

Additionally, Alphabet’s Google has made a $75 million investment in A24, according to reports from the Wall Street Journal. DeepMind didn’t comment on the investment’s specific value. A24 will be actively involved in shaping new workflows, with filmmakers maintaining full creative control.

An insider told Reuters that this collaboration isn’t about intellectual property or data training it’s about fostering innovation and supporting creative storytelling.

Overall, this partnership represents a significant step toward integrating AI into the creative process, with a focus on empowering artists rather than replacing them.
