Lahore: Cheif Minister Maryam Nawaz Launches Mobile Police Station Vans in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially inaugurated modern, tech-equipped Mobile Police Station vans to provide policing services directly to citizens across various districts of the province. A total of 33 mobile police stations have been made functional, out of which 6 vans are exclusively dedicated to women-related matters.

During the inauguration, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inspected a mobile police station van, observed its working mechanisms, and interacted with the deployed staff. She specifically inquired about operational procedures from the senior station assistant and the female public guide. Secretary Home Ahmed Javed Qazi briefed the Chief Minister on the initiative’s features and deployment strategy.

According to the briefing, each mobile police station van is staffed by a dedicated team comprising a Sub-Inspector (as In-charge), a Field Supervisor, a Senior Station Assistant, alongside male and female constables. For women-centric units (Pink Mobile Police Stations), specialized female staff are deployed to handle sensitive issues such as harassment, domestic violence, and abuse against women and children.

The mobile units are designed to bridge the gap between the public and law enforcement by bringing services straight to people’s doorsteps, particularly benefiting remote areas by saving citizens’ time and travel expenses.

The vans will visit universities, girls’ colleges, and various localities according to a pre-planned schedule, which will be publicized via social media, other media channels, and announcements in local mosques prior to their arrival. Furthermore, deployments can also be directed to specific areas based on emergency calls made to the 15 helpline.

Citizens can access 14 different police-related services through these mobile units. Key services include filing online FIR applications (with online e-tagging issued against requests under Special Initiative Police Station guidelines), reporting lost items such as CNICs and checkbooks, tenant and domestic/shop employee registration, criminal record checks, and character certificate verification. Additionally, the vans facilitate citizens in obtaining learner driving licenses, regular driving licenses, renewals, duplicate licenses, and international driving permits.

Reiterating the vision behind the project, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the primary objective of the mobile police station vans is to deliver policing services to the public with dignity, respect, and enhanced accessibility.
