Lt Col Muhammad Ali Shaukat and Sepoy Soban Majeed Baloch were honored for their bravery and sacrifice.
ISLAMABAD: In a solemn investiture ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday conferred the Sitara-e-Basalat upon brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army for their exceptional courage and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The President presented the prestigious gallantry awards to the families of two martyrs who laid down their lives while defending the motherland:
- Lt Col Muhammad Ali Shaukat (Shaheed): Recognized for his valiant leadership and sacrifice during a high-stakes counter-terrorism operation.
- Sepoy Soban Majeed Baloch (Shaheed): Honored for his unwavering bravery and devotion to duty in the face of terror.
The Sitara-e-Basalat was also awarded to SSG Sepoy Israr Muhammad. The Special Services Group (SSG) commando demonstrated extraordinary resilience, recovering from life-threatening injuries sustained during a fierce terrorist attack. His survival and continued commitment to the service were lauded as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the armed forces.
The ceremony was attended by senior military officials, government dignitaries, and the families of the awardees.
During the event, it was emphasized that the nation remains eternally indebted to its martyrs and Ghazis. The conferment of the Sitara-e-Basalat serves as a formal acknowledgment of the “conspicuous gallantry” displayed by these individuals, ensuring their names are etched in the annals of Pakistan’s military history.
Note: The Sitara-e-Basalat is one of Pakistan’s highest military honors awarded for acts of valor, courage, or devotion to duty while not in the face of the enemy, though frequently awarded for counter-terrorism achievements.
