Punjab Govt. urged to adopt KP’s journalist relief model

LAHORE: Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) and Focal Person for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed has highly commended the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government for its proactive initiatives to provide financial relief to journalists facing severe economic hardships.

In a press statement issued from Lahore, Ahmed termed the KP government’s decision to directly support the journalist community during these trying times as an exemplary step. He highlighted that instead of wasting hundreds of millions of rupees on self-promotional media advertisements, the KP administration made a conscious and commendable choice to channel those public funds toward the welfare of working media professionals.

The PTI leader strongly urged the Punjab government to follow suit and step up for the media community in its own province, particularly the members of the Lahore Press Club.

Ahmed stated:

“The Punjab government needs to step out of its reliance on multi-million rupee advertisement campaigns and take concrete, practical steps on the ground to support journalists who are struggling to make ends meet.”

Expressing deep concern over the prevailing economic crisis, the PTI focal person noted that the salaried and middle-income groups in Pakistan are being utterly crushed by the worst wave of inflation in the country’s history.

He heavily criticized the ruling authorities, asserting that both the federal and Punjab governments have completely failed to deliver on their core responsibilities to control prices, reduce the cost of living, and ease the immense financial burden on citizens.
