JHANG: As part of the Punjab government’s Green Punjab vision, a large-scale plantation drive was carried out across Jhang district, with one million saplings planted in a single day.
Officials and employees of the district administration, representatives of various government departments, educational institutions, students and members of civil society actively participated in the plantation campaign and expressed their commitment to making the environment greener and healthier.
Deputy Commissioner Jhang Babar Sahib Din, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and officers of various district departments took part in plantation activities at different locations. Saplings were also planted at educational institutions, where awareness was raised about the importance of tree plantation and environmental protection.
Deputy Commissioner Babar Sahib Din said the Green Punjab vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was an important initiative aimed at making the province greener, cleaner and environmentally sustainable.
He said tree plantation was not merely about planting saplings but also about fulfilling the responsibility of providing future generations with a clean and healthy environment.
The Deputy Commissioner said special attention would be given to the protection and care of the saplings planted during the campaign so that they could grow into mature trees and contribute to improving the environment in the future.
He stressed that making Jhang greener required the participation of citizens alongside government institutions. If every citizen planted at least one tree and took responsibility for its care, collective efforts could help create a cleaner, healthier and better environment.
During the plantation drive, students, civil society representatives and district officials pledged to ensure not only the planting of saplings but also their proper protection and maintenance, so that the Green Punjab message could be translated into practical action and the drive to make Jhang greener could be accelerated.
