DERA GHAZI KHAN : A wave of mourning has swept through Dera Ghazi Khan following a catastrophic roof collapse at The Little Scholars School, which has now claimed the lives of four minor students.
The tragic incident, being described by locals as a “Black Day” for the city, resulted in several casualties and left nearly a score of others injured. Emergency responders and local volunteers have been working tirelessly at the site as the rescue operation continues.
Rescue Operations Underway After Deadly School Roof Collapse in Dera Ghazi Khan
The deceased have been identified as young children whose lives were cut short in the classroom:
- Abdullah, 7 years old
- Fatima, 5 years old
- Dua Fatima
- Ghania
According to rescue officials, at least 19 others, including several teachers and students, sustained injuries when the structure gave way. The wounded were immediately rushed to the teaching hospital, where some remain in critical condition.
Rescue teams are still clearing debris to ensure no one else remains trapped under the rubble.The death toll rose to four as critically injured children succumbed to their wounds during treatment.Heart-wrenching scenes were witnessed at the hospital as grief-stricken parents reached the facility.
Authorities Call for Inquiry Following Devastating Roof Collapse at Local School
The horrific accident has raised serious concerns regarding the structural integrity of private school buildings in the region. Local authorities are expected to launch a formal inquiry into the school’s administration and the condition of the infrastructure to determine if negligence played a role in this tragedy.
