Noble Journalist Group Condemns Robbery at Shirazi’s House

Chairperson of the Noble Journalist Women Group Nasira Atique expressed her deep grief over the incident, and says Police trace the culprits swiftly

LAHORE : The Noble Journalist Women Group has strongly condemned the major robbery at the residence of renowned columnist and senior journalist, Syed Nasir Raza Shirazi, in the Walton area of Lahore. Expressing deep sorrow over the financial loss, the group has extended its full solidarity to the veteran journalist and demanded justice.

The Chairperson of the Noble Journalist Women Group Nasira Atique expressed her deep grief over the incident and emphasized the role of law enforcement.

Nasira Atique said that “The police are the guardians of the lives and property of citizens. The department must utilize modern technology to trace the culprits swiftly and ensure the recovery of Syed Nasir Raza Shirazi’s stolen assets.”

Echoing these sentiments, the group’s President Samal Hashmi, Vice President Sana Naqvi, General Secretary Azra Mehr, and Finance Secretary Saman issued a joint statement. They expressed deep sorrow over the multi-million rupee loss faced by the journalist and assured him that the entire community stands firmly by his side during this challenging time.

According to the details, one of the thieves involved in this high-profile robbery in Walton was caught. However, despite the apprehension, the suspect’s name was allegedly excluded from the First Information Report (FIR) due to police negligence.

While the senior journalist estimates the direct losses to be around 20 Lakh (2 Million) PKR, the local police department has reportedly maintained its traditional sluggishness, treating the case as mere paperwork rather than a high-priority investigation.

The Noble Women Journalist Group has officially appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, hoping for her immediate intervention:

  • Immediate Notice: The CM is urged to take immediate notice of the injustice faced by the veteran columnist.
  • Strict Legal Action: Proponents have demanded strict legal action against both the culprits involved in the robbery and any negligent police officials.
  • Recovery of Goods: Orders should be issued to the relevant departments to utilize cutting-edge technology to recover the stolen valuables and equipment at the earliest.

Syed Nasir Raza Shirazi is a highly respected figure in Pakistani media and journalism. Over his illustrious career, he has authored more than 12,000 columns and has actively contributed as an analyst and host on numerous television shows. The journalist community is collectively urging the government to ensure his safety and immediate restitution.
