Mushtaq Ahmed condemned the 50-rupee increase in the price of a 20kg flour bag, criticized the administration for its failure to provide relief to the public.
LAHORE : Focal Person for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mushtaq Ahmed on monday has issued a scathing reaction following a recent hike in flour prices across the provincial capital.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mushtaq Ahmed condemned the 50-rupee increase in the price of a 20kg flour bag, labeling it an act of “oppression” against the common man.
He criticized the administration for its failure to provide relief to the public, stating that the poor are being crushed under the weight of inflation due to the government’s poor performance.
Mushtaq Ahmed alleged that while the rulers are preoccupied with their own luxuries, the salaried class and laborers are being pushed toward extreme measures like suicide.
He noted that the average citizen is already struggling to afford two meals a day, and the rising costs of flour, roti, and naan are direct results of governmental incompetence.
The PTI leader took a jab at the Punjab government’s governance style, remarking that their “performance is limited only to advertisements” rather than actual ground-level relief.
“The increase in the price of basic necessities like flour and bread is a testament to the incompetence of the current rulers. While they spend on their own comforts, the poor are left to starve.” said Mushtaq Ahmed .
The hike comes at a time when inflation remains a central concern for residents of Lahore, further fueling the political divide over economic management in the province.
