Karachi: Faryal Talpur, the Central President of the PPP Women’s Wing and Chairperson of the Sindh Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior, presided over a meeting held at the Sindh Assembly building.
During the meeting, the security situation across the province and measures to prevent drug abuse were reviewed.Officials and departments responsible for drug prevention were instructed to develop effective strategies and actions utilizing modern technology.
The committee appreciated the exemplary performance and dedication of police officers, jawans, and citizens in crime prevention.Tributes were paid to officers and jawans who sacrificed their lives while performing their duties to maintain peace and order.
It was decided to implement stricter measures at inter-provincial borders to combat smuggling and other crimes.The progress regarding the Sindh Forensic Science Laboratory was also briefed to the attendees.
Faryal Talpur emphasized that all institutions must work together to combat drug abuse and called on citizens to play an active role.
She highlighted the need for a war-footing approach to protect youth and educational institutions from drugs.Faryal Talpur urged parents, teachers, civil society, relevant agencies, and the government to collaborate in efforts to prevent drug use within educational institutions.
She stated that negligence in addressing drug abuse would not be tolerated.The meeting was attended by Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar, along with other committee members including Sohail Anwar Siyal, Qasim Soomro, Sadia Javed, Khurram Kareem Soomro, and Saimma Agha.
Provincial ministers Saeed Ghani, Sardar Shah, Makhesh Chawla, Zulfiqar Shah, and Muhammad Ali Malekani also participated.Members of the National Assembly, Tariq Shah Jummo and Mahesh Malani, along with special assistants Sulaim Baloch, Liaquat Askani, and Ali Rashed, were present.
Members of the Sindh Assembly, including Pir Mujeeb, Khadim Fakhur, Imdad Patfani, Ali Ahmed Jan, Ijaz Shah, and Ali Hassan Hangoro, also attended.Additional Chief Secretary, IGP Police, secretaries of various departments, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
