Lahore: General Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza are crticizing on govt. policy.

LAHORE:General Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza sharply criticized on thursday that the provincial government’s handling of flood preparedness.

Responding to claims made by government spokespersons, Murtaza stated that the performance of the Punjab government has been evident to the public even before the monsoon season officially began.

He pointed out that a few hours of rain exposed the government’s false claims of preparedness, as roads, underpasses, and low-lying areas in Lahore appeared flooded, resembling rivers. “The monsoon has just started, and the government’s incompetence has already been exposed,” he remarked.

Murtaza emphasized that there has been little indication of timely relief and rehabilitation measures for flood victims. He highlighted that villages in Chiniot have suffered from river erosion annually, yet no permanent solution has been implemented to address the issue.

The PPP leader also criticized the government’s reactive approach, accusing it of remaining silent throughout the year and issuing evacuation instructions only when floods occur. “The public does not need announcements; what they require is effective planning and practical measures,” he asserted.

Murtaza further stated that while government spokespersons continue to make claims, ordinary citizens are struggling with the difficulties caused by floods. He called on the authorities to adopt a comprehensive and effective strategy to manage floods and warned that ignoring public concerns is a clear sign of governmental failure.

He concluded by urging the government to prioritize practical solutions over mere rhetoric, emphasizing that the people of Punjab are feeling helpless in the face of mounting flood-related issues.
