LAHORE: The weekly critical meeting of Halqa-e-Arbab-e-Zouq was held at the Pak Tea House under the presidency of Kashif Manzoor.
Joint Secretary Shahzad Faramosh read the proceedings of the previous meeting. Afterward, Dr. Fauzia Tabassum presented her poem “Khoon Phir Khoon Hai”, Abdul Waheed presented his short story “Rang Kaat Saaten”, and Muneza Sahar presented her ghazal for literary critique, one by one. Attendees of the gathering shared their opinions on all three creative works.
Sharing his views on the poem, the president of the meeting stated that the poetess has depicted a perpetual negative landscape that emerges in changing guises. This poem appears to have been written in haste, with split hemistiches (lines) in places. It lacks proper craft, but the flight of imagination is high. Nevertheless, the poem succeeds in conveying its impact.
Regarding the short story, he remarked that the short story writer’s hard work in terms of craft was evident, and he has a good grasp of history. However, a journalistic tone crept into the story; it would have been better if a more literary essence had shone through.

The author’s other work needs to be reviewed before dismissing this piece; overall, it is a good short story. Commenting on the ghazal, he said that the primary function of literature is the satisfaction of aesthetics, and this ghazal is a beautiful reflection of that. He also drew attention to two couplets that had technical issues.
In the end, Secretary Aftab Javed thanked the guests and announced that the next meeting will be held at 6:00 PM. Seventy people attended the meeting.
