LAHORE: The renowned literary circle, Halqa Arbab-e-Zauq Lahore, convened its weekly meeting at the historic Pak Tea House under the leadership of Secretary Aftab Javed and presided over by Dr. Khurshid Rizvi. The gathering saw a vibrant exchange of literary critiques, performances, and discussions, attracting an audience of over 100 attendees.
During the session, Manzar Ejaz presented a Ghazal that was critically reviewed by the audience, while Naveed Sadiq shared a thought-provoking poem. Dr. Rizvi praised the Ghazal for its impactful expression and described the poem “Sar Zameen-e-Talab Par” as abstract yet poetic, emphasizing its depth and interpretative richness.

In addition to the literary critiques, Dr. Najib Jamal delivered an insightful essay on the poet Meera Ji titled “Meera Ji aur Mughalte,” which was highly appreciated. The event also featured a vocal performance by Dr. Muhammad Jawad, who discussed the intricacies of Raag Jaijaiwanti, adding musical flair to the evening.
Secretary Aftab Javed announced the formation of a new Executive Council comprising notable members including Hameed Razi, Muhammad Abbas Mirza, Wajid Ameer, Tauqeer Sharifi, Muhammad Jawad, Muhammad Nawaz Kharal, and Shazia Mufti.
The evening concluded with Dr. Rizvi reciting his poetry, eliciting applause, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony in honor of Dr. Najib Jamal’s birthday, led by Hussain Majrooh. The event highlighted Lahore’s enduring literary spirit and community engagement.
